With the draw for the group phases of the Champion’s League having taken place this week in Monaco I thought I would share my views on who to have a flutter on with some very eye catching prices being offered at VCbet.

Group A looks a formality judging by Roma’s last encounters with English sides so Chelsea will walk it in my opinion but at a price of 2/5 nothing big is to be won in this group.

Group B could be where you find value, Werder Bremen are being quoted at 2/1 with Vcbet and with favourites Inter Milan having a lot of new players and also a new coach I think the German’s might just shade the group.

Group C looks a formality and with Barcelona being quoted at 2/7 the bookies also think so.

Group D has Liverpool at even money favourites but for me 9/4 on Atletico Madrid is too good to turn down especially when you consider the slow start Liverpool have had to their own domestic season.

Group E will be won by reigning champions Manchester United.

Group F has a lot of value about it with favourites Bayern Munich being offered at a mouth watering 11/8, French champions Lyon at 2/1 and Italian outfit Fiorentina at 5/2 but for me it has too be the Germans to win the group.

Expect Arsenal at 8/11 to coast through Group G and likewise Real Madrid to do the same with Group H at 8/11 also.

So my tip for a bet will be Bayern Munich 11/8, Atletico Madrid 9/4, Arsenal 8/11 treble.

It’s all change at Newcastle Untied this week with Kevin Keegan vacating the manager’s post after a good start to the season.

Known as ‘King Kev’ among the Geordie fans the former England boss has been reportedly sacked over a row with owner Mike Ashley about transfer funds.

It is believes that the 1970’s legend was unhappy that he was not given more money to strengthen his squad and build on a solid start to the 2008/09 campaign.

So Keegan’s going but who will replace him? Dennis Wise is the obvious favourite and is already available to back at 2/1. The former Leeds manager is the director of football at St James Park and has an excellent relationship with the board. It is also thought that the diminutive former Chelsea midfielder had the final say on signings at the club, which means the current squad has been part built by him.

Also in the frame is the Alan Shearer. The clubs record goal-scorer is yet to make his foray into management but the fact he turned down the job last time and is enjoying his TV career probably means the 4/1 about him is too short.

Gus Poyet, who worked with Dennis Wise at Leeds, is also fancied for the role. At 3/1 the Spurs assistant has impress many in his role at the North London outfit.

Lastly David Moyes at 5/1 is interesting – lets face it he’s not having a great time at Everton this season.
