The Coca-Cola Championship on www.PaddyPower.ie has now drawn to a close and unfortunately for three teams, that means the end of their run in the top league and hello to Coca-Cola League 1. These teams are Norwich City, Southampton and Charlton.

For Norwich, August 2009 didn’t really get off to a good start having lost 1 game in the league and then drawing 3 league games. The wins started to come in September though, notching up 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. From October to December, their tally of wins reached just 5 out of a possible 17! 2009 didn’t bring them much luck either as the wins they were getting just weren’t enough to save them from the relegation battle that went underway. It came to May 3rd to give them the answer they were dreading and after losing to Charlton, they were officially relegated.

The points accumulated by Southampton from August-April were put on the back burner because on the 23rd April 2009, the team were deducted 10 points because the club went into administration. Now some would argue why should the team be punished for this and to be honest, I don’t know the answer to that, it isn’t fair in my opinion, but Southampton had to play the hand they were dealt and unfortunately they didn’t. Overall this season, they just won 10 games and lost a staggering 21!

Charlton were pretty much the same. Their poor statistics and UK sports betting odds were the main factor in them being relegated this season having won just 8 games out of a possible 46.
