Coral sports book – After a bout of illness that kept him out the Davis Cup squad and affected his performance at the Dubai Open, Andy Murray has been cleared of suspected Glandular fever leaving him clear to get back to full fitness and push ahead with his recent run of excellent form.
The 21 year old from Dunblaine in Scotland remains off colour but is starting to recover from what is now thought to be a viral infection. He has travelled to California for the first Masters event of the year which started on the 9th March at Indian Wells.
In recent years, this event has been dominated by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who have won four of the last five titles (Federer winning three and Nadal taking one). Murray will need to hit the ground running if he is to stand a chance against the likes of Nadal and Federer. He has shown tenacity against this pair in the past but with his illness hanging over him, he may fall short should he be drawn against either of these two.
Another star making their return at Indian Wells is Maria Sharapova. The Russian has been struck down with numerous injuries this season and her right shoulder continues to cause problems. After a period of recuperation, Sharapova has made good progress in her plight to get back to fitness and will be looking for a solid performance in order to boost her confidence, which will have been badly affected after a significant break from the game.
