Coral Sports Book – Football is probably the biggest sport in the world. It is a contest where two teams play each other on a grass pitch for 90 minutes, 45 minutes shooting at both ends with a 15 minute interval between the two halves of 45 minutes. The game is played with a round leather ball and both teams aim to score in the goal which is a big metal frame with a net sat at either end of the pitch.
Both teams have eleven players each including one goalkeeper, the other ten players are then split into certain positions making up a defence, a midfield and a forward line. The obvious aim of the game is to score more goals than your opposition. On a professional level there are hundreds of leagues contested across the world.
The most famous league are in Europe with the English Premiership being known as the “biggest and best” league in the world and the league that every professional aims to play in. On a national level the biggest competition is the FIFA World Cup, this is a knockout competition where the finals are held in a different country every four years.
The qualifying period actually starts two years before the knockout finals and the qualifying groups are split into areas, Americas, Oceania/Asia, African and European, then the winners and runners up of all the groups go thorough to the main finals where subsequently the next ones are to be held in South Africa.
