Drugs in Athletics
With Dwayne Chambers much publicised court case against British Athletics coming up this week I ask myself how dare he take anyone to court when he himself admitted that he had been taking the banned steroid TCG since 2002, and if he was to get an Olympic place back when he knew the rules and the consequences if he was to get caught it would be a miscarriage of justice and I for one hope he is not allowed anywhere near the track in Beijing simply because he is a cheat!!
Over the years there has been no shortage of high profile cases of drug taking in Athletics and sport in general, we have had Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, Linford Christie, and many more which have bought the sport down and it is about time the laws changed regarding it. I believe just like what former track legend Carl Lewis said in that if you are caught taking drugs to enhance whatever it is you are competing in that you should get a criminal record and criminal proceedings brought up against the individual and whether that means serving a term in jail then so be it because one thing is for sure, this needs to STOP now before the greatest sporting event in the World becomes a lesser event that the World’s Sporting audience will not be interested in and this cannot surely be allowed to happen especially when the Olympics are due in London in 4 years time.
